Encounter between security forces, militants in J&K's Pulwama; 2 civilians injured

Two civilians were on Tuesday injured during an encounter between militants and security forces in Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said.

Srinagar: Two civilians were on Tuesday injured during an encounter between militants and security forces in Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said.

A boy Owais Ahmad Dar was hit by a bullet while a girl Iqra was injured in the head by a broken glass, a police officer said.

Both were rushed to a hospital in Bijbehara from where they were referred to a hospital in Srinagar, the officer said, adding the condition of both of them is stable.

The officer said the encounter broke out when militants fired at a party of security forces which had gone to Dogripora village following a tip-off about presence of militants.

Firing has stopped but the search operation is still going on in the area, the officer said.
