Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah on Monday assured the refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 wars that their problems will be resolved by the Centre in a time-bound manner.
On the second day of visit today, Shah will meet the displaced villagers who had to migrate from the border areas after ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
However, he said he cannot guarantee voting rights to those who took shelter here from the other side of the border as only the state government can make that call.
Shah reportedly said that India will give a “befitting reply” to the ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
He is scheduled to address a rally in Kathua later today where two-time Congress MP and former minister Lal Singh is also likely to join BJP.
Prior to Shah`s visit, clashes had broken out between National Conference (NC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in RS Pura sector of Jammu district at a border displaced camp at boys higher secondary school in the area.
Shah is currently on a two-day visit to the state as part of party`s `Mission 44` in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections next year and is scheduled to address a rally in Kathua later today.
He arrived in Jammu on Sunday on his maiden visit after being appointed as the party chief.
After arriving in Jammu, he deliberated on the strategy of the party ahead of the upcoming polls where it aims to win at least 44 out of 87 seats.
The tenure of the J&K Assembly ends on January 19, 2015, and elections will be held before that for the 87 Assembly seats in the state.
