Srinagar: An infiltration bid was foiled by the Indian Army on Saturday at Tutmar Gali area of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, three to four militants tried to infiltrate into the Indian territory through Tutmar Gali.

While the exchange of fire between the Indian troops and militants is still underway, the Army has reportedly killed three militants.

"Alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the Line of Control in Tootmaar Gali area of Kupwara district during the wee hours today. As soon as the infiltrators crossed to this side of the LoC, they were challenged, triggering off a gunbattle," an army official said.

This is third infiltration bid foiled by the army in two weeks.

On Tuesday, four militants were killed and a fifth unidentified body was recovered by the Army in Tangdhar in Kupwara district during a sixteen-hour gunbattle.

The unidentified body was handed over to the police.

Four AK-47 rifles and one UBGL have also recovered from the site.
