Woman stripped, tortured after her son elopes with a girl in UP

New Delhi: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly stripped and tortured as part of punishment after her son eloped with a girl from the same village. 

The incident took place in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The accused blackened her face and threw chilli powder in her private parts. 

The woman was rescued by the local police who were called in by the victim's husband. 

The woman has been admitted to a local hospital and her condition is said to be critical. 

The police told that the woman was tortured by the girl's family members. 

Police have registered a complaint against five people including four women. No arrest has been made in the case so far.
