22-year-old Chandu Babulal Chauhan hails from Maharashtra.

New Delhi: Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday that India will take up the issue of release of an Indian jawan who accidentally strayed into Pakistan territory.

All attempts to ensure the release of the Indian soldier will be made, Rajnath Singh, added that the government will take up the matter with the government of Pakistan.

Media reports have identified the soldier as 22-year-old Chandu Babulal Chauhan, a soldier with the 37 Rashtrya Rifles. Chauhan hails from Mahasrashtra.

He was reportedly captured after he, accidentally, crossed the Line of Control near the village of Mankote, close to one of the locations of the action by para commandos.

The Indian Express quoted sources in Islamabad as saying that Chauhan had been captured by Pakistani troops at Jhandroot, west of Mankote, and was now being kept at the military headquarters in Nikayal.
