Warm weather prevails in north India

Most parts of north India experienced warm weather on Tuesday with mercury registering above-normal temperatures in the region.

New Delhi: Most parts of north India experienced warm weather on Tuesday with mercury registering above-normal temperatures in the region.

Hot and humid conditions persisted in Delhi with the maximum temperature rising three notches above the normal level for this season.

According to MeT department officials, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 24 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal.
Humidity in the air oscillated between 30 and 85 per cent.

Warm weather conditions prevailed in many parts of Punjab and Haryana today as the temperatures continued to hover around the normal levels.

Chandigarh recorded a high of 34.4 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal, the Met department said.

Hisar was the hottest place in the region with a maximum temperature of 38 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal

Bhiwani, too, had a hot day registering a maximum of 37.8 degrees Celsius while Ambala and Karnal recorded above-normal highs of 33 and 33.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Punjab, Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded 34.7 and 34 degrees Celsius while Patiala's high settled at 34.7 degrees Celsius.

Light to moderate rains occurred at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, whereas mainly dry weather prevailed over western parts of the state in the last 24 hours.

Ghosi received 5 cm rainfall followed by Rasra 4 cm, Kakardarighat, Ballia, Birdghat, Mukhlispur, Khalilabad, Bhinga, Bansi 3 cm each, Balrampur, Gorakhpur, Regoli, Hata, Pherendra, Mohamadabad, Katerniaghat, Kakrahi 2 cm each, and Gaighat, Turtipar, Fatehpur, Tarabganj and Palliakalan 1 cm each, the Met department said.

Weather remained dry in most parts of Rajasthan where day temperature hovered above 34.6 degree Celsius.

The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Churu and Sriganganagar at 38.5 degrees Celsius whereas Mount Abu registered the lowest temperature at 14.4 degrees Celsius, according to Met department.
