UPATS, Lucknow Police arrests Dawood's aide Tariq Parveen

Tariq Parveen, a close aid of India's most wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was on Monday arrested in a joint operation by the Lucknow Police and Uttar Pradesh Anti-terror squad (UPATS).

Lucknow: Tariq Parveen, a close aid of India's most wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was on Monday arrested in a joint operation by the Lucknow Police and Uttar Pradesh Anti-terror squad (UPATS).

"The team arrested Tariq Parveen in Mumbai today," SSP Lucknow Yashaswi Yadav told PTI.

Parveen, a number one operative of Dawood Ibrahim gang, was living in Mumbai in a building owned by Sara, the sister of the underworld don, the SSP said.

He was deported from Dubai to Mumbai in 2004 and he was in jail till 2008, Yadav said, adding that after getting bail in 2008 and coming out of the jail, he changed his identity.

A team from Lucknow was sent to arrest him in a 16-year old case when in his gang members were caught here in 1990 with AK-47 and ammunitions while they were going to kill the then Mayor of Bombay.
