Gorakhpur: To what length would you go to demand a salary hike? A frank, one-to-one discussion with your boss? Probably yes.
But, teachers in Gorakhpur have gone to the extreme and threatened to convert to Islam if their salary hike demands are not met.
The part-time teachers belong to the Kastoorba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), as per The Times of India.
They even held a demonstration on Wednesday against the discrimination meted out to them by the government.
The teachers claim that in 2014, the salary of permanent teachers and part-time Urdu teachers was hiked substantially, but the salary of Hindi and Sanskrit teachers was cut to Rs 5,000 per month from Rs 7,200 per month, the daily reported.
