Agra: Visitors to Taj Mahal will now be able to 'stay connected' with the outside world while they soak in the beauty of the world famous monument of love.

Union Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Tuesday, inaugurated wif-fi facility at the Taj Mahal complex.

Operated by BSNL, access to the internet via the wi-fi hotspot will be free of cost for the first 30 minutes.

As part of the Digital India programme, the government is working towards enabling all cities with a population of over one million and tourist centres with wi-fi hotspots.

In February, wi-fi facility was launched by BSNL at Dashashwamedh Ghat and Shitala Ghats of Varanasi.

Among the monuments identified by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for setting up wi-fi hotspots are Fatehpur Sikri, Sarnath, Konark Sun Temple, Khajuraho, Red Fort and Ellora.
