Lord Hanuman, known as Mahavira was Lord Shiva's incarnation.

The 'Pawan Putra', described as a greatest devotee of Lord Rama, once applied sindoor all over his body for his master's (Rama's) long life.

 

In Sanskrit, the name Hanuman means disfigured jaw.

Mahavira, a brahmachari had a son Makar Dhwaja, who was born to a powerful fish.
