Delhi: The move by Barack Obama administration’s to sell Pakistan eight new F-16 fighter jets has been stalled by US Congress, as per a media report.
According to Hindustan Times, the US lawmakers have raised questions about the end use of the combat aircraft.
They have also questioned the relationship itself.
The Daily quoted sources as saying that several requests for clarification and information were made by members of the House of Representatives.
This effectively 'stalled' the process.
However, the report also said that it did not mean that the move was dead or had been 'cancelled'.
Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif had been 'informally' notified by Congress of its proposal of a 'foreign military sale', of the jets, during his visit to Washington last October, the Daily said.
Lawmakers were reportedly worried about several issues, namely, the end use of the jets and whether they could and would, be used against India.
