RSS forged alliance with Indian Union Muslim League for Kerala Assembly elections?

Kozhikode: A fresh controversy has erupted after CPI(M) accused Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of forging an alliance with Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) ahead of Kerala Assembly elections.

CPI (M) has levelled the accusation on the basis of RSS leader P. Gopalankutty's courtesy call to IUML leaders, according to a report in The Hindu. Also, CPI (M) has alleged that Gopalankutty had visited the IUML’s office in Kozhikode on January 26.

"IUML leaders have ignored its party workers and sacrificed secularism the party had been preaching, just for the sake of votes," CPI (M) leaders said.

Indian Union Muslim League, a political party, is recognized by the Election Commission of India as a state party in Kerala.

Kerala Assembly elections are expected to be held in May-June this year.
