RSS ideologue Govindacharya critical of industrialists' 'proximity' to PM Modi

New Delhi: Former RSS ideologue Govindacharya on Saturday questioned the "proximity" of some industrialists with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying Caesar's wife has to be above suspicion.

"Modi should be cautious enough. Caesar's wife has to be above suspicion. Taking moneybags along on foreign tours doesn't give a good message or image," he told NewsX in an interview, according to a release from the channel.

He was asked about the BJP government being accused by Congress of favouring industrialists like Gautam Adani to whom the State Bank of India has offered in principle a loan of USD one billion for a coal mine project in Australia.

When told that there is another argument that the PMO needs to send the right message to bring in investments, Govindacharya said, this type of proximity was not needed.

In Jan Sangh days also, Nanaji Deshmukh raised funds and had very close relations with industrialists but care was taken not to allow them such proximity he said.
