New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made public a letter issued by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in 1944 urging the Indian brothers and sisters to come forward and join the last fight for Independence.

The proclamation issued by Netaji in 1944 read: “We call upon every India to destroy the Anglo-American war effort in India by systematic sabotage and thereby hasten the successful conclusion of war of our country's freedom.”

“Sisters and brothers of India. This is a golden opportunity for you to fulfil your long cherished aspirations for freedom. If you rise to the occasion and do your duty, freedom will be yours before long. In this momentous crisis, India expects everyone to do his or her duty.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday release digital copies of 100 files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose following the government's decision to declassify files on the freedom fighter.

The files, digitised and given "preliminary conservation treatment" by the National Archives of India, will be released on the birth anniversary of Netaji.
