Rashtriya Lok Dal to contest alone in 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) today said it will contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh alone and project its young general secretary Jayant Chaudhary as its face.

Lucknow: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) today said it will contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh alone and project its young general secretary Jayant Chaudhary as its face.

"All the parties will be contesting the coming elections projecting someone as their face and RLD will project party's general secretary Jayant Chaudhary as its face in the Assembly polls," said RLD chief Ajit Singh.

Stressing that his party will go alone in the elections, he said it will hold some seven to eight rallies in October-November in the central and eastern region of the state.

Commenting on the present scenario in Uttar Pradesh, the former union minister said "there is complete anarchy in the state."

"The super CM, senior CM and junior CM all say that their ministers have become corrupt but no one takes the responsibility for it," he said.

Terming the recent feud in Mulayam Singh Yadav's family as the tussle for inheritance, he said "the tussle is for who will have the hold over the Samajwadi party after the Assembly elections."

"Yadav family claims to be following socialist thinker Ram Manohar Lohia who was totally against dynasty in politics.

What is the meaning of Samajwadi Pariwar under this context," he added.

To a question on Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's kisan yatra, he said RLD is the only party of villagers, poor and farmers.
