Rajya Sabha polls results: BJP clean sweeps Jharkhand, Rajasthan - Know details

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday came out with flying colours as it managed to win all Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand and Rajasthan. Also, BJP bagged while bagging two out of three seats in Madhya Pradesh.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday came out with flying colours as it managed to win all Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand and Rajasthan. Also, BJP bagged while bagging two out of three seats in Madhya Pradesh.

Jharkhand

BJP's Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Mahesh Poddar won the Upper House seats from Jharkhand.

Madhya Pradesh

MJ Akbar and Anil Madhav Dave won from Madhya Pradesh.

The third seat in Madhya Pradesh was bagged by Congress supported candidate Vivek Tankha.

Uttar Pradesh 

In Uttar Pradesh, all seven candidates of Samajwadi Party have won. 

Congress's Kapil Sibal has also won from Uttar Pradesh.

Rajasthan 

BJP's candidates from Rajasthan included Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu and O.P. Mathur.

Uttarakhand 

From Uttarakhand, Congress leader Pradeep Tamta was elected to Rajya Sabha.

Rajya Sabha polls

Seven states went to polls on Saturday to elect 27 Rajya Sabha members.

These include 11 seats from Uttar Pradesh, four each from Karnataka and Rajasthan, three from Madhya Pradesh, two each from Haryana and Jharkhand and one from Uttarakhand.

Out of 57 Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant, voting took place for only 27 seats today as 30 candidates were declared elected unopposed at the end of withdrawal of nominations on June 3.
