Rahul Gandhi's inflation-related speech ''baseless'', just wants to grab people's attention: BJP

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a date by which the prices will come down.

New Delhi: Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi for criticising the NDA government for its supposed failure to control inflation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said most of the speeches made by the Congress vice president are baseless and without foundation, and added that he wants to grab the people`s attention by sprouting one-liners.

"Just because he coined the term "arhar arhar Modi` doesn`t change the fact that most of his speeches are baseless. He just wants to grab the people`s attention by sprouting such one-liners and Arun Jaitley responded strongly on the floor of the House," BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.

Escalating his attack on the grand old party, Hussain said the present crisis in terms of pulses was because of the erstwhile Congress regime.

"Whatever he (Rahul Gandhi) is blaming us for in the current situation.their government was initially responsible for it," he added.

Gandhi yesterday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to control the prices of pulses and said that `arhar arhar Modi` is becoming famous instead of `har har Modi`.

Gandhi, speaking in the Lok Sabha, criticised the government over the false promises made to the nation and the failure to tackle the rampant inflation.
