New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday assured students of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar that the party will raise their concerns over campus safety with the government.

The NIT campus had been on boil following clashes between Kashmiri and non-Kashmiri students after the locals celebrated West Indies' win over the Indian cricket team in the world T-20 semi final match on March 31.

After meeting the students, Rahul Gandhi tweeted:

The classes had to be suspended after the clashes and subsequent protests. A large section of non-Kashmiri students also refused to appear for their exams and sought migration from the institute.
