Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is likely to take on the Narendra Modi government on Thursday in the Lok Sabha on the issue of rising prices of essential commodities.

With the prices of pulses and some other commodities skyrocketing in recent months, the main Opposition party has launched a sharp attack on the NDA government for hitting hard the common man.

Party sources had said yesterday that the House was expected to take up a short duration discussion on the issue, as per PTI.

Sonia attacked BJP-led government last week:

Earlier, in a blistering attack on the Modi government, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had on July 20 accused it of destabilising institutions, polarising society and mistaking its parliamentary majority for a licence to impose its narrow ideology on people.

Addressing the first meeting of Congress parliamentary party in the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament, she had also slammed it for "deception", "glib marketing slogans" and snatching the rights of Dalits, adivasis, specifically citing the Gujarat incident where four Dalits were beaten and humiliated publicly.

Sonia had also referred to the unrest in the Kashmir Valley  which has witnessed turmoil after the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani with clashes claiming over 40 lives.
