New Delhi: As the mystery surrounding Subhas Chandra Bose's death continues to puzzle countrymen, Prime Minister's Office on Friday confirmed that first set of files related to Netaji has been sent to National Archives of India.
Giving details of the process, the Prime Minister's Office on Friday said that Principal Secretary to the PM, Nripendra Misra has handed over the first set of files related to Netaji to the Director General of National Archives of India.
The PMO maintained that the the first batch of 33 PMO files have been cleared and handed over to National Archives of India for further processing, preservation and digitisation.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs are separately taking action for release of files under their custody, the PMO further informed.
The PMO described the step as a milestone.
This marks a key milestone in fulfilling the long pending demand of the people of India, for declassification of files related to Netaji.

In the month of October, PM Modi had accepted the long-pending demands of family members of Subhas Chandra Bose and announced that his government would declassifying secret files related to the great freedom fighter.
The Prime Minister had made the announcement after meeting family members of Netaji today at 7 RCR.
The demands for declassification of secret files have been growing lately, especially after the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal recently declassified 64 files which were in its possession.
