PM Modi, Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev hold talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev held talks here on Sunday.

Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan): Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev held talks here on Sunday.

"United by the bond of democracy. President Almazbek Atambayev receives PM @narendramodi at Ala-Archa State Residence," tweeted external affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

"After a multilateral interaction in Ufa, a tete-a-tete in Bishkek. PM @narendramodi with President Almazbek Atambayev," he posted.

Earlier, Modi laid a wreath at the Victory Monument.

"The Eternal Flame burns on as the prime minister lays a wreath at the Victory Monument in Bishkek," tweeted the MEA.

Modi, who arrived late Saturday night at Bishkek, was received by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Temir Sariyev at the airport.

He was later accorded a ceremonial guard of honour.

India is gifting medical equipment to the Kyrgyz Field Hospital. Modi would inaugurate tele-medicine links between the two countries, which are aimed to promote medical tourism from Kyrgyzstan to India.

He will unveil a statue of Mahatma Gandhi later.

Modi will also visit the Kyrgyz-India Mountain Biomedical Research Centre.

Kyrgyzstan is the penultimate stop of his Central Asian tour. He has visited Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Ufa in Russia for the BRICS and SCO summits. He travels to Tajikistan later and returns on Monday.
