People disappointed over hike in fuel prices

People across the country on Sunday expressed disappointment over the government`s latest revision in fuel prices.

New Delhi/Hyderabad: People across the country on Sunday expressed disappointment over the government`s latest revision in fuel prices.

"I use only one litre of petrol daily. We had benefitted a lot by recent decline in the fuel prices. I can`t say how much the prices are going to increase. If it increases too much then it will be a loss," Moinuddin, a resident of Hyderabad, said.

"The government should think of the convenience of the public. It looks like it was an election stunt to reduce fuel prices, now the prices are rising again," said Rafid, another resident of Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Vinod, a resident of Delhi, attributed the rise in fuel prices to the international oil market.

"It all depends on the international market, some days back it was reduced and now it`s being increased. So, what`s there in it. Whatever it is, we will have to pay. We can`t stop using the vehicles," he said.

"It will affect us a lot, now we will have to pay more. It is all because of politics, because of Delhi elections," said a resident of Mumbai.

Earlier in the day, the government hiked the petrol price by 82 paise per litre while that of diesel by 61 paise.

After the hike, a litre of petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 57.31 from Monday as against Rs 56.49 until now. Diesel will cost Rs 46.62 per litre as against Rs 46.01 presently.
