Parliament Standing Committee visits Indian Army's Northern Command HQ

The Parliament Standing Committee on Saturday visited Indian Army's Northern Command headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district and were briefed by top commanders on security situation of the state.

Jammu: The Parliament Standing Committee on Saturday visited Indian Army's Northern Command headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district and were briefed by top commanders on security situation of the state.

The PSC on Defence, comprising Members of Parliament from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, reached the Northern Command Headquarters today, Defence Spokesman Col S D Goswami said.

The committee was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the state and on defence preparedness by senior officers at the Headquarters, he said.

The Chairman of the Standing Committee Major Gen (Retd) BC Khanduri later interacted with the Army Commander, Northern Command in which issues related to security of the borders, infrastructure development and initiatives for the welfare of troops were discussed.

The committee was also familiarised with equipment and devices used by the troops deployed for military operations, he said.
