New Delhi: Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit on Monday said that the primary objective at present is to achieve peace between India and Pakistan and resolve issues.
"Indian Foreign Secretary was in Pakistan earlier this month. We are looking forward to resumption of an engagement process. Let's hope that the engagement will continue which started with Jaishankar's [S.Jaishankar] visit to Pakistan," he told ANI.
"We are looking forward to more meetings between our two countries because the objective is to achieve peace between two countries, resolve our problems and hope both countries will now move forward," he added.
Earlier this month, Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar was in Islamabad as part of his "SAARC yatra" and had held extensive talks with his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Chaudhary. He also called on Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and his Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz.
