New Delhi: Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed is attempting to push militants across the Indian side of the border ahead of US President Barack Obama's India visit to attend Republic Day celebrations, reports said on Tuesday.

It was also reported that the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief has set up two control rooms in different places including Muzaffarabad in a bid to coordinate with the militants.

Security along the International Border has been stepped up in the wake of reports of possible attempts by the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants taking advantage of fog and extreme weather conditions to slip into the country.

Even Border Security Force (BSF) has deployed at least 12 additional companies at the Indo-Pak Border to thwart militants attempting to infiltrate.

Obama is the first US President to have been invited by India to be the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

Heavy security arrangements have been made by the authorities, including installation of CCTV cameras along the route on which the US President will travel.

The security has also been enhanced following a letter threatening a terror attack "somewhere" on the Yamuna Expressway, which connects Delhi with Agra.

Special security personnel and sharp shooters would be positioned on vantage and high-positions, officials said, IANS reported.

Seventy-five anti-terror squad (ATS) personnel will be deployed on the outer periphery of the security ring protecting the US President, sources said, while adding that the internal security of Obama will be taken care by special forces, specially requisitioned from Delhi and the inner most ring would be of special secret service agents from the United States.

Many hotels in the Cantonment area are also being booked for advance teams of the Secret Service.

The US President is arriving here on January 25 on a three-day visit during which he will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attend the Republic Day Parade as chief guest and visit Taj Mahal.
