No meeting between Indo-Pak Foreign Secretaries till progress in Pathankot attack probe: Sources

Pokhara/Kathmandu: Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan are in Nepal's Pokhara to attend the 42nd Session of the Standing Committee of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) on Wednesday, but a bilateral meeting between them is unlikely.

While Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry exchanged courtesies at a dinner on Tuesday and at breakfast this morning, a meeting between them is possible only after progress in probe into this year's Pathankot airbase attack, sources said.

The two foreign secretaries came face-to-face for the first time since the Pathankot attack, which derailed bilateral ties between the two nations.

The meeting of the SAARC Standing Committee on Wednesday - a foreign secretaries-level forum – takes place a day ahead of the SAARC foreign ministers' meeting tomorrow.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is expected to meet Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan prime minister's adviser on foreign affairs, in Pokhara on the sidelines of the SAARC meeting tomorrow.
