No country spoke about 'Kashmir' on which Nawaz Sharif devoted 80% of time at UN: India

New Delhi: Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday categorically stated that onus is on Pakistan to act against terror groups, which find safe havens and all types of support for promoting cross border terror on its soil.

Briefing the press, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, fifty countries have already spoken in the United Nations General Assembly, and not a single nation has spoken on the subject which Pakistan Premier Nawaz Sharif devoted 80 percent of his time, however, all the nations referred to terrorism as a threat to global community.

Sharif in his UN address had raised the issue of Kashmir and hailed Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, who was gunned down by the Indian security forces in the Valley on July 08.

“The so called dossier Pakistan PM referred to in his speech at UNGA, we find no mention of it in UN Secretary General's statement,” the MEA spokesperson maintained.

“Virtually every statement by other countries at UN referred to terror as main threat to peace, but Pakistan continues to remain in denial,” Swarup said.

Swarup said India hopes the bill to designate Pakistan as a terrorist state by two senior US lawmakers will be treated with utmost seriousness.

When asked about India's diplomatic steps to corner Pakistan on the world fourum, Swarup said, "Our actions speak for themselves and you can see our actions are already delivering results," adding that many countries have strongly condemned the Uri terror attack.

"We have been continuously sensitising the world about the terrorism emanating from Pakistan and how Islamabad continues to treat terrorism as a matter of state policy," Swarup added.
