Narendra Modi govt messed up OROP, says Manish Tewari

New Delhi: Congress leader Manish Tewari on Monday said that the NDA Government has totally messed up the issue of One Rank One Pension (OROP).

"The Prime Minister and his government have totally messed up the One Rank One Pension issue. They merely had to take the decision of the UPA Government forward, which for some reason, they decided not to," Tewari told ANI."Now, you find yourself in a strange quagmire, where the government despite announcing One Rank One Pension, has made all the ex-servicemen unhappy," he added.

Ex-servicemen protesting for the implementation of the OROP scheme called off their hunger strike on Sunday after receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s reassurance on OROP, but said they will continue with their agitation.

"We are happy to announce that we have called off the hunger strike. The Government should agree to VRS and the other four points. It`s legal and justified. Agitation will continue," said chairman of Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement (IESM) Major General (Retired) Satbir Singh.
