NCP leader wants India to tell China not to intervene on road building in Arunachal

Asserting that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Thursday indicated that India should convey a message to Beijing that it should not have any reservation over India building infrastructure, like roads, in Arunachal Pradesh.

New Delhi: Asserting that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Tariq Anwar on Thursday indicated that India should convey a message to Beijing that it should not have any reservation over India building infrastructure, like roads, in Arunachal Pradesh.

"India has always made it clear that whether it is in relation to Arunachal Pradesh or Jammu and Kashmir, it has the right to build infrastructure there as Arunachal is an integral part of India. Whether we build roads or any other infrastructure they should not have any opposition to it and this must be explained to China," he told ANI here.

Expressing serious concern over New Delhi mulling to build a wide stretch of roadways along the Chinese border in Arunachal Pradesh, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei on Wednesday asked India not to complicate the border imbroglio.

"Before final settlement is reached we hope that India will not take any action that may further complicate the situation," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said.

Indicating that China would not give up its claim on Arunachal Pradesh, he said, "We still need to verify the specifics. The boundary issue between China and India is left by colonial past. "We need to deal with this issue properly. There is a dispute about the eastern part of the China India border."
