Delhi: Muslim clerics, intelligentsia and leading members of the community have all come together in an effort to deradicalise some of the youngsters who may have been influenced by the Islamic State ideology.

Different ministries and government departments both at the Centre and states are also being roped in to tackle the ISIS, as per a report in India Today.

Government departments that are said to be roped in include IT, social welfare and Home and Minorities Affairs, among others.

The report also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju had heard the efforts being undertaken at the level of various state governments and police forces.

Some of the states which are discussing the issue are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha and, Uttar Pradesh.

The issue was reportedly heard at the three-day DGPs' meet in Gujarat.

Part of the plan is to use cyber space and also reach out to the youth by their role models to tell them what real Islam is.

The idea is also ensure that youngsters are not influenced by the ideology that terror groups are trying to propagate in the name of religion, the report quoted sources as saying.
