Mamata arrives in Darjeeling

Banerjee will be on the side of the President during his stay in Darjeeling and the state government will felicitate him, officials said.

Darjeeling: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today arrived in Darjeeling hills ahead of President Pranab Mukherjee's scheduled visit here tomorrow.

Banerjee, who arrived in Richmond Hills area of Darjeeling was greeted by state Tourism Minister Goutam Deb and senior bureaucrats.
She came by road from Rohini, near Siliguri and was whisked away to the high-security bungalow, officials said.

Gorkha National Liberation Front activists felicitated the Chief Minister when her convoy reached Rohini en-route the hills.

Banerjee will be on the side of the President during his stay in Darjeeling and the state government will felicitate him, officials said.

Mukherjee will arrive here on July 12 along with West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi. Both the President and the Chief Minister will be present in Darjeeling town on July 13 to attend the famous Nepalese poet Bhanubhakta Acharya's birth anniversary. They are also expected to attend the Tea Trader association AGM the next day.
