New Delhi: Some shocking facts have surfaced about JNU's anti-India event mastermind Umar Khalid!

The man, behind the anti-India event and anti-national slogans at Delhi's JNU on February 9, is son of SQR Ilyasi, a former chief of banned terror outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), according to a tweet by a TimesNow's reporter.

Umar Khalid is wanted by Delhi Police for raising 'Bharat ki barbaadi', 'Bharat ke tukde' and other anti-national slogans in JNU campus.

SIMI is banned Islamist student organisation that was formed in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in April 1977.

Umar Khalid, currently on the run, is a member of Demorcratic Students' Union and he was a key organiser of the Afzal Guru event where anti-national slogans like 'Bharat ki barbaadi', 'Bharat ke tukde' and 'Pakistan zindabad' were raised.

Delhi Police had submitted a report on its alleged crackdown on a group of protesting JNU students on February 9 to the Ministry of Home Affairs and blamed students leader Kanhaiya Kumar and a 'wanted' student Umar Khalid for events leading to violence in the varsity campus.

In a four-page report, the Delhi Police claimed that Democratic Students Union (DSU) activists led by Umar Khalid raised anti-national slogans after they were denied to broadcast a pro-Afzal Guru documentary on February 9 in the JNU.
