New Delhi: India and Canada on Wednesday signed a statement of cooperation for research in water quality monitoring and alternative wastewater treatment technologies in river Ganga.
The statement was signed between National Mission for Clean Ganga and 'India Canada Centre for Innovative Multidisciplinary Partnerships to Accelerate Community Transformation and Sustainability' in the presence of Ganga Rejuvenation Minister Uma Bharti, Canadian Minister of International Trade Ed Fast and Minister of National Revenue Kerry-Lynne Findlay.
The other areas of cooperation identified are sharing of industrial effluent treatment knowledge and mobilisation for the Ganga Knowledge Centre, said a government statement.
The statement signed today is the sequel to the third meeting of the Indo-Canada forum for Environmental cooperation held in Toronto, Canada in October 2013 and a subsequent international workshop on Integrated River Management for River Ganga held in February 2014.
