Panama Papers: Income-Tax dept issues notice to brother of Rahul Gandhi's close aide

New Delhi: The Income-Tax department on Wednesday issued a notice to Shashank Singh, a relative of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's close aide over alleged offshore assets, a News18 report said.

Shashank is the brother of Kanishka Singh, who is advisor/principal secretary to Rahul Gandhi. He has come under the scanner of investigative agencies after he was named in Panama Papers as a holder of an offshore account.

The report further stated that Enforcement Directorate is also investigating the Shashank Singh's case.

Shashank is currently being investigated by the Income-Tax department officials.

Last month in May, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya accused Kanishka Singh of involvement in the AgustaWestland and the 2010 Commonwealth Games scams.

The BJP's Lok Sabha member from Mumbai had said that Kanishka Singh held shares in Emaar MGF Land Ltd., a real estate company that also had Guido Ralph Haschke, one of the accused in the AgustaWestland case, as its director.

Further details awaited.
