Chandigarh: Outspoken Haryana Minister Anil Vij on Monday supported Yoga Guru Ramdev over his controversial remarks that he would have "beheaded" people for refusing to chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' if there was no law to stop him.

"Baba Ramdev ne jo Hindustan ka jan manas hain us jan manas ki bhavna ko vyakt kiya hai (Baba Ramdev has reflected the feelings of the public of the country)," Vij said here.

"Yeh to hamari sabyata hai, kanoon hai desh ka ki unko bardasht kiya jata hai. Agar doosre deshon main aisa log kare toh koyee bi unhe bardasht nahein karega (It is our culture, the country's law that such people are being tolerated. If this had happened in any other country, they would not be tolerated)," said Vij, the state's Health Minister.

Ramdev's remarks came at a function at Rohtak in Haryana yesterday against the backdrop of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's recent remarks that he will not chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' even if a knife is put to his throat.

Vij, the five-time BJP MLA from Ambala Cantt who is known for his outspoken nature and for his comments on any and every issue connected with state or outside, said no one should have any problem in chanting 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'.

He also said that if one calls himself an Indian, lives and eats food of this soil, then he sees no wrong why one cannot chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'.
