Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday congratulated all the students who have cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam and said it was great to see women securing the top ranks in the prestigious exam.

New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday congratulated all the students who have cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam and said it was great to see women securing the top ranks in the prestigious exam.

"Congratulations to all those who cleared the #UPSC exam! It`s great to see women securing the top ranks," Rahul said on twitter.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the successful aspirants UPSC civil service exams.

Four out of the top five ranks in the civil services have been grabbed by women this year.

A total of 1,236 candidates have been recommended for appointment to IAS, IFS, IPS and central services in the results announced on Saturday afternoon.

A total of 254 candidates have also been kept in a consolidated reserved list.

Candidate Ira Singhal topped the examination, with Renu Raj and Nidhi Gupta coming second and third.
