Hisar (Haryana): On a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Swachh Bharat mission (Clean India campaign), Essel Group Chairman Dr Subhash Chandra also joined the initiative in Hisar, Haryana.
Leading a group of enthusiastic youngsters, Dr Chandra himself picked up a broom and cleaned the streets.
He also appealed to the residents of Hisar as well as citizens in other parts of the country to join the noble initiative to realise the dream of 'Clean India'.
PM Modi this morning launched the ambitious Swachh Bharat mission with an aim to make the country clean by 2019, when the nation will celebrate 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.
The Centre will spend nearly Rs 2 lakh crore in a five-year span as part of its ambitious plan to completely clean India by October 2019. While the Urban Development Ministry will allocate Rs 62,000 crore for cleaning towns across the country, the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation will spend Rs 1,34,000 crores for providing clean water and improving sanitation.
