New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appreciated people's support for his demonetisation decision.

Reassuring the nation of receiving positive results in the future from the demonetisation move, PM Modi in a tweet put out from his official handle said, “I always said that the Government's measure will bring a degree of inconvenience but this short term pain will pave way for long term gains.”

In an attempt to connect with the rural India, he further said, “No longer will the progress & prosperity of rural India be curtailed by corruption & black money. Our villages must get their due.”

“We also have a historic opportunity to embrace increased cashless payments & integrate latest technology in economic transactions,” PM's another tweet said.

He urged the people to unite to support digital payments and eradicate corruption and black money from India.

Under unrelenting opposition attack over demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes and the misery it has brought for the common people, PM Modi said, “Together, we must ensure #IndiaDefeatsBlackMoney.
