Ahmedabad: On a day when the Opposition is trying to corner the Prime Minister over the winding queues outside banks and ATMs, Narendra Modi's 90-year-old mother Heeraben also queued up at a bank in Gandhinagar to exchange old currency.
Escorted by relatives, 94-year-old Heeraba walked into a branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce with 9 notes of Rs 500 to exchange them for Rs 4500 in new notes.
After clearing the formalities, she was handed two Rs 2000 notes and five notes of Rs 100.
Heeraben lives in Gandhinagar with PM Modi's brother Pankaj Modi in Gandhinagar. Pankaj works at the Gujarat secretariat.
Other members of PM Modi's family also live normal lives despite their Narendra Bhai becoming the Prime Minister of the country.
Infact, it was only in May this year that Heeraben made her first visit to Delhi to spend some time with her son.
