Personal transactions or business transactions like the government transactions should be done through an electronic mode.

This system provides a transparent and prompt transaction of money, Khattar added.

About the swipe and Point of Sale (POS) machines in government departments, he said government departments, having facility of POS counters, have been directed to install such machines.

He claimed different applications have been prepared by banks and telecom companies to facilitate cashless transactions.

The government would give Rs 5 as a token of appreciation to each person who would get himself registered on Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) and other modes of cashless transactions, the Chief Minister said.

Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking BJP MPs, MLAs and leaders to furnish the details of transactions made between November 8 to December 31, Khattar said it was a "good initiative."
