Former union minister Jairam Ramesh, who led the Congress protest in Maharashtra`s Mumbai city, alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre focuses more on `headlines` and is

least concerned about bring back the `ache din` as promised in its manifesto for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"We are bringing forward the resentment among the people of this country following the latest hike in prices. This government is insensitive and not the government that will bring `ache din`," Ramesh said.

Similar protest was witnessed in Bihar`s Patna city where the RJD workers demanded an immediate rollback of the fuel prices and alleged that the ruling BJP at the Centre has failed to fulfill the promises made to the nation.

"We are also protesting against fuel subsidy cut and demanding for a rollback of the price hike," said one of the protestors.

Petrol prices were raised by Rs 3.13 per litre while diesel prices by Rs 2.71 per litre from Friday night. This is the fourth increase in fuel prices this year. The rates were last hiked on May 1.
