Congress blames BJP, PM Modi for logjam in Parliament

New Delhi: The Congress Party on Sunday hit back at Minister of State for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar for blaming the opposition for the ongoing logjam in the Parliament, saying the BJP did not allow the House to function for three successive sessions of the Lok Sabha during the UPA regime.

Congress leader Pramod Tiwari held the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for the deadlock.

"I think this is one of the funniest statements given by Prakash Javadekar. He is just trying to speak lies, nothing else. Why is he forgetting that he and his party did not allow the functioning of the Parliament for three successive sessions of the Lok Sabha? Now, he is preaching us that the Congress is wasting money," Tiwari told ANI.

"If someone is responsible for this deadlock, it is the BJP Government, which is protecting those whose crime is almost visible. And with due regards, I want to say that it is the Prime Minister, who does not want that the Parliament should function," he added.

The BJP had earlier held Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party`s vice-president Rahul Gandhi `personally responsible` for the ongoing logjam in the Parliament and accused the duo of acting in an `anti-democratic` manner."Congress is fairly responsible for the logjam in Parliament and their leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are personally responsible because many of the Congress MPs do not subscribe to the idea of continuous disruption, but their leaders are forcing them. This is frustration out of their electoral defeat," Javadekar said.

Both the Houses of Parliament have not been able to function with the opposition parties reiterating their demand for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj`s resignation over her alleged help to former IPL chief Lalit Modi. The opposition has also been targeting the government over the Vyapam scam.
