New Delhi: The Congress Party on Saturday alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is working under pressure after it refused to ban Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' programme

Congress leader KC Mittal said that constitutional bodies should be unbiased and must not relent under any pressure.

"Under whose pressure are they working? If questions are being raised on unbiased functioning of constitutional authorities then it is wrong. This needs to be investigated. Constitutional bodies should maintain their independence and not relent under pressure," Mittal told ANI.

When asked if Election Commission is working under pressure, Mittal said, "Definitely it seems so, not only in this matter but in some two-three other matters also."

The EC had on Friday rejected the Congress Party and its alliances' demand of banning Prime Minister Modi's radio programme, alleging that it could be used to influence the outcome of the Bihar Assembly elections.
