New Delhi: Supreme Court advocate KTS Tulsi on Wednesday scathingly attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of making 'false promises' to get back the black money which has been illegally stashed abroad, adding that each citizen is feeling cheated due to the same.

"I want to know on what basis did the Prime Minister make this promise to the whole country? Everywhere he went, he said that within 15 days there will be Rs 13 lakh or Rs 15 lakh in the account of every citizen. People believed him. They did not know that they are being taken for a ride. And, after that they say that there is a treaty," Tulsi told ANI.

"Did the Prime Minister not know that there is a treaty? Did anybody in the BJP dint know that there was a treaty? It was the same treaty on the basis of which the UPA was being condemned by them. Now, the whole table has turned," he added.

Tulsi also criticised the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, stating that most bank accounts opened under the scheme have little or no money in them.

"Crores of bank accounts have been opened. How have they been open? Out of 80 crore, perhaps 60 crore or 70 crores are those accounts which have only one rupee- less than hundred rupee in their accounts. Why were these accounts opened? Because they thought that now for opening by 'Jan Dhan Yojana' the Prime Minister is taking steps to put money in their accounts," he added.

Earlier senior advocate Ram Jethmalani had also echoed similar sentiments and said deliberate attempts are being made to stall the return of black money from abroad.
