Kolkata: Apprehending that a bigger terror plot was in play behind the Pingla blast that killed 12 people, BJP state President Rahul Sinha today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and demanded that the Centre should look into the matter.

"Today a BJP delegation met Prime Minister Narendra Modiji. We informed him about the worsening law and order situation in West Bengal. We informed him about the Pingla blast and apprehended that a bigger terror plot after the Khagragarh blast was on the anvil," Sinha told reporters after the meeting.

"We requested him to see that the Centre looked into the matter immediately," Sinha added.

Twelve persons were charred to death and four others injured in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory at Pingla in West Midnapore district of West Bengal on May 7.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had ordered a CID investigation into the incident.

The opposition Left Front and BJP have been alleging that the state government was trying to hush up the matter.

"We have also informed Modiji how BJP workers across the state are rendered homeless by goons of TMC and an unprecedented terror unleashed on BJP workers throughout the state. We have urged him to see that the culprits of the Saradha chit fund scam and other chit funds not allowed to go scot free," said Sinha.
