BJP asks Mukul Roy not to evade CBI

Kolkata: With the Supreme Court deciding to defer hearing of petitions seeking a court-monitored CBI probe into the Saradha scam, state BJP on Tuesday said Trinamool Congress MP Mukul Roy should stop evading the CBI and appear before it as early as possible.

The apex court today deferred hearing on the petitions filed by West Bengal and ruling Trinamool Congress seeking a court-monitored CBI probe into the multi-crore Saradha scam, alleging that the agency was acting as an "instrument" of the Centre and targeting TMC leaders.

"Madan Mitra has been trying many things in order to evade the CBI. But when no tricks worked, he had to appear before CBI and was arrested," BJP state president Rahul Sinha told reporters.

"Mukul Roy is trying to do the same by trying to evade the CBI. I think rather than evading CBI he should face it. Because those who are affected in Saradha scam want justice," he said on the sidelines of a programme here.
