BJP accuses AAP of maintaining 'double-standards'

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said the recent rifts in Arvind Kejriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) clearly indicate that they believe in preaching and maintaining 'double standards' on all issues.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said the recent rifts in Arvind Kejriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) clearly indicate that they believe in preaching and maintaining 'double standards' on all issues.

"It clearly confirms that Mr. Kejriwal and his team believe in preaching, they don't like to practise what they preach and they maintain clear double standards on all issues. One set of standard to advice others and the other set of standards not to follow that advice themselves," said BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli.

"When they can show a video of Kejriwal speaking, it means the video exists. And if the video exists then what happened after the speech because the allegations concern that," he added.

Kohli further appealed the AAP to come out with the entire video of Kejriwal speech before the expulsion of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan from the national executive team.

"Issues related to elderly people being assaulted..people being prevented to speak, so they should come out with the entire video and confirm whether their version is correct or the allegations against them are true," said Kohli.

"Additionally, this party and Mr. Arvind Kejriwal went all over the country, internationally also perhaps spoke about the importance of Lokpal. See how they treat their internal Lokpal. He got to know from the newspapers and channels that he has been sacked," he added.

The AAP had earlier on Sunday released a 45-minute video of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's impassioned speech, a day after the removal of senior leaders Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha from the National Executive.

In the speech, Kejriwal says "he was betrayed" and "knifed in the back", and ends with an appeal to the council to choose between them and him.

Meanwhile, the supporters of Yadav and Bhushan have reportedly alleged that the video was clearly edited.
