Patna: In contrary to the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's announcement about liquor ban in Bihar from April 1, the Bihar State Beverages Corporation Limited (BSBCL) on Thursday invited tenders for the Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) shops in the state.
The recent order seeking tenders for the new liquor shops in the state has raised the speculations that the liquor ban on the state is likely to be partial.
Soon after coming into power, Nitish on November 26 has announced a liquor ban in the state from April 1 next year.
A report in the Times of India also says that the tenders were also invited for the installation of CCTV cameras, supply of outsourced security guards and grade-IV staff for the liquor shops, purchase of tables, chairs, shelves, currency counting and fake currency detection machines besides land on lease for godowns to keep the IMFL.
The state government has not revealed the plan about imposition of the ban but sources tell that the ban is going to be only on the country liquor in the initial phase.
