Amritsar: Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested Border Security Force (BSF) jawan in Amritsar for his alleged involvement in cross-border arms-smuggling.

Prem Singh, who was posted in Fazilka border in 2014, has been accused of allegedly helping illegal arms smuggling on the Indo-Pak border. Accused Prem Singh joined the BSF in 1993 and at present, is posted at Barmer region in Rajasthan.

He is currently being questioned over his involvement in weapon smuggling.

On January 9 2016, Punjab police had arrested another BSF jawan from Mohali for cross-border drug trafficking and illegal arms supplying. Anil Kumar, a jawan with 52 Battalion and posted in Rajasthan, confessed delivering the consignment across the border to help Pakistani smugglers, in return for money.

According to police, Pakistani handlers established a connection with 29-year-old Singh during a marriage held at Tarn Taran district. They lured Singh by offering him big bucks in exchange of helping them smuggle drugs and other arms across the border.
