Prashant Kishore denies report of his induction in JD(U) national executive

New Delhi: Media reports on Thursday claimed that Prashant Kishor, the noted poll strategist who had played a pivotal role in the 2014 poll victories of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in 2015 Bihar assembly polls was inducted in the Janata Dal United's national executive.

However, his office immediately rejected the reports of Kishor being picked for political role.

"The news of Prashant Kishor being nominated to JDU National executive is incorrect," his office I-PAC tweeted.

Kishor is currently serving as advisor to Bihar government led by Nitish Kumar.

The news about him being inducted in the JD(U) national executive evoked sharp response from former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi, who tweeted that he should have been removed from the Bihar government's advisor role before that.

Kishor is also presently serving as the poll campaign strategist for Punjab Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh, and also helping the party in Uttar Pradesh where elections are scheduled to be held next year.

Kishor and the Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG), an election-campaign group he conceptualised, helped the Narendra Modi-led BJP win an absolute majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

In 2015, Kishor and some members of CAG regrouped and started the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) and started working for the 2015 Bihar assembly election.

Working closely with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Kishor helped Kumar's "Grand Alliance" win the elections.
